Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) will commence three super luxury bus services from this month.
SLTB Chief Operations Superintendent H.M. Chandrasiri said these new luxury buses will run from Colombo to Galle, Colombo to Matara, and Colombo to Kuliyapitiya. They will start from Colombo Central Bus Stand. The SLTB has already deployed over 70 super luxury buses to transport passengers on both the Southern and Katunayake Expressways. These buses run on Maharagama – Galle, Maharagama— Matara, Kaduwela – Matara, Kaduwela – Galle, Panadura – Matara, Katunayake – Colombo, Kuliyapitiya – Colombo, Chilaw – Colombo and Ja-ela – Colombo routes, Chandrasena said.
He said the number of buses will be increased according to the needs in the future and added that high standard buses were purchased by the SLTB with a concern for passenger safety. “Well-experienced drivers and luxury coaches are a must to operate transport services on the expressways and we have trained drivers on this regard,” he said. He said the SLTB earns an average daily income of nearly Rs. 2 million from these super luxury buses. “We plan to add more buses from main towns and cities including the North and East across the country on both expressways in due course,” he added.
Chandrasena said all these super luxury buses in service have very high standards to ensure luxury, comfort and safety for passengers.
