A book containing a selection of articles from the weekly column, Mata Penena Madhya Bhumikawa (The Media Landscape As I See It), will be launched next week. Written by Milinda Moragoda, the column provided a critique and reflections on the local and international media environment, and was carried in the Sunday Lankadeepa from 2015-16.
To mark this event, Sirasa/MTV will broadcast a special one-hour programme on Poya day, 12 March at 7 a.m. The programme will be hosted by respected media personality Asoka Dias. Discussion, commentary and criticism will be provided by eminent media practitioners and analysts Ariyaratne Dombagahawatte, Editor of the Sunday Lankadeepa, M.J.R. David, Senior Lecturer, Department of Mass Media (University of Sri Jayawardenepura) and Sunethra Rajakarunanayake, creative writer and media practitioner.
This is the sixth compilation of articles by Milinda Moragoda published in book form. Peravadana (Foreword) was published in 2001, Sathiye Situwilla (Thought of the Week) in 2005, Kadapatha (The Mirror) in 2009, Ennaik Kavarnda Ulagath Talaivargal (World Leaders) in 2009, and Milinda Prashna in 2015.
Milinda Moragoda has contributed regular weekly columns in the Sinhala and Tamil print media since 1999. During the past 18 years his columns have included: Arthika Vigrahaya (Economic Analysis), Sathiye Situwilla (Thought of the Week), Ennaik Kavarnda Ulagath Talaivargal (World Leaders), Kadapatha (Mirror), and Haravum Lakshya (Turning Point).
At present, he contributes three weekly columns: Milinda Prashna for the Wednesday Lankadeepa, Milindage Vigrahaya (Milinda’s Point of View) in the Sunday Deshaya, and Diyathen Dhothak (Window to the World) for the Sunday Lankadeepa.
