Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa has referred to the measures adopted by the Government to expand the mega development projects while improving the living standards of the people.
The Minister pointed out that the President had already taken the initiative of building the road network as well as power plants needed to generate the power required by the country in addition to building harbours to improve shipping, and also irrigation projects. He added that the President while discharging an enormous service was also determined to improve the economy of the poor.
The Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new building of the Central Advisory Bureau on Engineering. The new building will have nine floors and the estimated cost is 200 million rupees.
Speaking further, Minister Rajapaksa said the role played by Engineers in economic development was significant. Minister S.M. Chandrasena and many senior government officials were present. (news.lk)
