Ramallah City (Asiantribune.com): Arrangements are already scheduled to hold a mass at the Church of Milk Grotto in Bethlehem at 4 p.m. on 20 November to bless President Mahinda Rajapaksa and to mark his 65th birthday and assumption of duties for the second term.
This event is organised by a Palestinian group called the ‘Friends of Sri Lanka in Bethlehem’ in association with the Representative Office of Sri Lanka in Palestine. Sri Lankan workers in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem are expected to participate at this function along with the Palestinian friends of Sri Lanka.
At this Mass a Palestinian and a Sri Lankan Priest will bless the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the people of Sri Lanka.
On this occasion Dr. T. Jayasinghe, Representative of Sri Lanka in Palestine will donate a set of Computer equipments to Sister Maria Grech, Head of the Franciscan Family Centre in Bethlehem that is serving the poor Palestinians from all religions in Bethlehem.
In the meantime the Palestine-Sri Lanka Association will celebrate the birthday in Ramallah with a special meeting organised for the occasion.
Every year since the establishment of the Representative Office of Sri Lanka in Palestine in 2007 the birthday of President is celebrated in Palestine.
On 18 November 2007 the road in front of Sri Lanka Representative Office was named ‘H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa Road’.
