Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera met Cabinet-ranking US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power in New York on Tuesday (23).
In their wide-ranging interaction they also discussed ways of increasing opportunities for Sri Lanka to participate in UN peacekeeping missions.
After meeting Ambassador Power Minister Samaraweera participated in a dialogue hosted by the Swedish Permanent Representative to the UN with members of the UN Peacebuilding Commission.
The dialogue focused on ways of supporting Sri Lanka’s post-conflict transition and peacebuilding efforts, including means of realising the ‘peace dividend’.
