UPFA Kurunegala District MP elect and former president Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday declined to take up the position of Opposition Leader in the new Parliament.
Responding to a question posed by a television broadcaster, he said the position should be given to a senior member of the SLFP.
“I will function in Parliament giving priority to national issues,” he said.
