Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been accused of failing to address post-war economic and social issues.
Minister of Public Enterprises Development Kabir Hashim said that while Rajapaksa must be given credit for defeating the LTTE, economic and social issues were not addressed five years after the war.
Hashim said that simply constructing hospitals and buildings would not resolve the issues faced by the people.
The Minister said that there was a need for the two main political parties to unite to address the issues at hand.
He said everyone knows Sri Lanka fell into the biggest debt trap under the Mahinda Rajapaksa regime.
However, the Minister said that by joining together, the unity Government had been able to make a change. (Colombo Gazette)
