Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya yesterday ordered the police to investigate those accused of displaying an altered version of the national flag at a protest rally, staged near the Bribery Commission recently.
The Magistrate also asked the police for a complete list and detailed report of those accused.
An altered national flag was displayed during a demonstration staged in front of the Bribery Commission on 23 April, protesting the summoning of former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the commission. The flag was also displayed at several meetings and protests during the last few weeks.
The distorted flag did not carry the orange and green stripes which represent the country’s minority communities.(CG)
