Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited, the distribution arm of the State-owned Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), has been instructed to provide locally refined fuel to State enterprises that purchase large stocks of fuel from CPC.
CPC says this step has been initiated under the instructions of the Minister of Petroleum Industries Susil Premajayantha.
The Minister has directed the officials to provide enterprises like Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Sri Lanka Railway and Sri Lanka Transport Board with the fuel refined at the CPC’s petroleum refinery in Sapugaskanda.
He has instructed the officials to obtain the relevant specifications for the fuel used for specific vehicles and machines as the specifications for fuel released from Kolonnawa storage may not have be the same for fuel used for newer vehicles and machines.
Accordingly, Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited has taken steps to obtain the specifications in relation to fuel used in the vehicles and machines of these enterprises.
