Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday said that the local authority elections will be held in March next year.
“In November we will be announcing the economic policy and the budget debate and by January to February we will prepare to implement our plans and apparently we will have elections in March as planned,” he revealed.
Wickremesinghe urged to reduce the party rivalries and then see where the country is headed for but said that it doesn’t mean that party rivalry to be absent parties will contest separately.
He made these remarks delivering the keynote address at the National Management Conference 2015 organised by the Institute of Management of Sri Lanka yesterday.
“You will find some of it early next year when we go for the local authority elections which has already been set. But soon after the elections we will get down to the serious business of governance,” he noted.
Thereby the Premier suggested everyone to contribute to the new vision of Sri Lanka as a responsible and accountable state to the world and to its own people.
