Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa gave the approval to recommence live telecast of Parliament proceedings starting with this Friday’s Budget Speech.
In response to a question raised by Opposition MP Ravi Karunanayake in the House, the Speaker has taken the decision to allow the live telecast in consultation with Party Leaders. Use of abusive language and unruly behaviour will terminate the transmission.
The disruptive behaviour of certain members who violate the rights of those who are not present in the House to defend themselves against allegations levelled caused the discontinuation of the live telecast after the Budget debate last year.
