The discontinued live telecast of Parliament proceedings will commence from 6 May under strict regulations, said the Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa last week in response to a question raised by opposition lawmaker Ravi Karunanayake.
Revealing the limitations of the live transmission, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa told the House that the telecast will be “limited to one hour” till the end of questions for oral answers. “I do have the control switch. But we need to strictly abide by the Standing Orders,” confirmed Speaker Rajapaksa.
The disruptive behaviour of certain members who violate the rights of those who are not present in the House to defend themselves against allegations levelled caused the discontinuation of the live telecast after the Budget debate last year.
