A colleague of Lasantha Wickrematunge, former Editor-in-Chief of the Sunday Leader newspaper, lights a candle in front of Wickrematunge’s grave during the third anniversary of his death in Colombo on 8 January.

Wickrematunge was shot by unidentified gunmen on motorcycles as he drove to the Leader newspaper’s office in a suburb of Colombo in 2009, according to the police.
