The Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) – Cruise Training Task Group will be calling on the Colombo Port for a three day port visit from 11 to 13 November 2014.
The 2014 ROK Cruise Training Task Group is currently deployed on a 96 day voyage visiting ports in 12 countries. Sri Lanka is the sixth country visited by the Group since their first visit to Guam on 24 September 2014. Two Navy Vessels ‘Choi Young’ (DDH-981) and ‘Cheonji’ (AOE-57) will be arriving to the Colombo Port under the command of Rear Admiral Chun Jung-Soo.
At 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 11 November, the Cruise Training Task Group will arrive at the Colombo Harbour. On the same day at 4 p.m., a joint performance by Sri Lanka Navy and ROK Navy will be held at the Galle Face Green. Korean and Sri Lankan Navy bands will together play the music and perform dances. Performances by the Korean Navy Honour Guard and Korea’s traditional percussion quartet, ‘Samul-nori’, Taekwondo, and K-pop performances will also be staged for the public (free entry).
Finally, an on-board reception for the Sri Lankan Government and tri-forces personnel will be held on Wednesday, 12 November at 7 p.m.
