‘Korea Meets Sri Lanka’ cultural event at Nelum Pokuna today

A cultural event jointly organized by the Korean Embassy in Colombo and the Ministry of Culture and the Arts of Sri Lanka will be held at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa theatre on April 25th and 26th from 6:00 p.m. onwards.



The “Korea Meets Sri Lanka” Friendship Evening is held in celebration of the 1st anniversary of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s state visit to Korea.

The globally popular Korean dance team Jinjo Crew and Queen - a female fusion Gukak (traditional Korean music) band will perform at the event.

The Korean tele-drama, ‘Jang Geum’ (Jewel in the Palace) which was dubbed into Sinhala as Sujatha Diyani has become popular in Sri Lanka recently.

The Korean government believes that this cultural event and many upcoming exchanges between the two countries will promote friendship and strengthen the ties between Korea and Sri Lanka.

A welcome act will be performed by a dance troupe from tSri Lanka Ministry of Culture and the Arts. The event, held under the patronage of the first lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, is free of charge and open to the public but requires an invitation from the Korean Embassy.
