The Republic of Korea has extended its deepest condolences and sympathy to the Government and people of Sri Lanka on the devastating loss of lives and properties caused by the recent floods and landslides.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and everyone else affected by this disaster. We hope that the ongoing rescue efforts are successful and those who were injured make a full recovery,” it said in a statement.
In this regard, President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in has conveyed a message of condolences to President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena, following this tragedy. In the message, he stated that, “On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Korea, I would like to convey my most sincere sympathy to Your Excellency and the people of Sri Lanka, who must be in profound sadness over the recent grave calamity, as well as my deepest condolences to the victims and the bereaved families.”
As a token of solidarity with Sri Lanka, the Government of the Republic of Korea has decided to provide humanitarian assistance worth of $ 300,000 in the form of relief goods such as family tents, blankets and tarpaulins, which will be delivered as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the Korean community and companies in Sri Lanka are also joining efforts to assist the Sri Lankan people affected by floods and landslides.
