The Korea Corner, a small-scale cultural centre funded by the Korean Government, will be open to the public from 27 January on the 2nd floor of the Colombo Public Library. The opening ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the Library with the participation of the Arjuna Jongmoon Choi, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, and A.J.M. Muzammil, Mayor of Colombo. Ambassador Choi has initiated and provided vigorous supports for the establishment of the Korea Corner and expects it will promote better understanding of Korean culture within Sri Lanka. Given the high popularity of Korean TV dramas and increasing demands for Korean language lessons, the opening of the Korea Corner will likely draw much attention and improve the access to information and resource on Korea. The Korea Corner accommodates hundreds of books, movies, TV dramas, music CDs and multimedia equipments to enjoy K-pop music and dramas. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Colombo Municipal Council have been working together to enhance cultural exchanges and people-to-people relations between Korea and Sri Lanka with the Korea Corner as a important foundation and they will continue the collaboration to further improve its collections and contents.
