Speaker Karu Jayasuriya issued a warning to all lawmakers yesterday highlighting Wednesday’s unruly behaviour of certain members.
According to the Speaker, the MPs have tarnished the image of Parliament as well as the self-respect by using unparliamentary language.
“Having gone through the Hansard report of 22 March, I realised that some MPs have engaged in using unparliamentary language. All members should follow the Standing Orders if there is a need to make allegations.
The behaviour of certain members degraded the Parliamentary traditions and values which were upheld for long years,” he said. (AH)
