Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says that the party media unit that was defunct since the beginning of the party split has been reinstated.

A JVP activist named Upul Ranjan Abeynayake has been named as the chief of the media unit.

However, some of party propaganda organs like Lanka newspaper and the Lanka Truth website still remain in the hands of the dissidents, JVP sources say.

Meanwhile JVP Somawansa faction is to hold a mass rally at Hyde Park Colombo to call for support for the candidates of the local government election.

However, no dissident leader is to address the rally. JVP sources say the nomination lists of the JVP contain a number of party dissidents.
