The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) yesterday accused the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) of attempting to incite communal hatred in order to win votes at the Parliamentary Elections this month.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that the TNA had failed to meet the expectations of the Tamils in the North and so now they were attempting to use the communal issue to win votes.
Silva also said that the TNA election manifesto would go in favour of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa since the document speaks of a federal solution and devolution of powers.
He said that hardline Sinhalese groups are opposed to a federal solution and people like Mahinda Rajapaksa were now using that situation to win votes.
He also warned the public to be mindful of false promises being made by the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and its Prime Ministerial candidate Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Silva said that the UPFA was making several promises to the state sector ahead of the 17 August parliament election when it was the UPFA which ruined the state sector.
