The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) says it has no objections to the Joint Opposition holding a rally in Nugegoda this week.
SLFP Treasurer S.B. Dissanayake said that the Joint Opposition was not an enemy of the SLFP.
He said the Joint Opposition has a democratic right to hold a rally in Nugegoda and it had the blessings of the SLFP for the rally.
The Joint Opposition is to stage a rally in Nugegoda on Friday with the participation of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Dissanayake said that the SLFP supporters wanted the party to be united and have one candidate in the electorates at the next Local Government elections and not separate candidates from the SLFP and Joint Opposition. (Colombo Gazette)
