Former Minister Johnston Fernando, who is in remand in connection with financial fraud, was remanded again until 25 May.
Fernando’s lawyers requested bail for their client when the former minister was produced before Kurunegala Chief Magistrate Ravindra Premarathna but the Chief Magistrate rejected the bail request.
Following a complaint against the former minister which alleges that he removed goods worth Rs. 5,275,000 from Lak Sathosa outlets during his tenure as the Internal Trade Minister, the Police Financial Investigation Division arrested the former minister on 5 May.
Lak Sathosa Former Chairman K.M.R. Fernando was also remanded until 25 May when he was produced before the Kurunegala Chief Magistrate.
