Japan Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) is sending out an appeal for donations to help people of Japan affected by the 11 March earthquake and tsunami.
JASTECA said Japan as a friendly and caring country has provided technical expertise, innovative management systems, skills and training to thousands of Sri Lankans through the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarships (ATOS) programme. “There is better time than this for all Sri Lankans to come forward and help Japan in its time of need,” JASTECA said. It is also appealing to its members, ATOS trainees, corporate members as well as other well wishers for support.
To express solidarity and support in Japan’s hour of need, JASTECA has volunteers to contribute to the Disaster Relief Fund established by ATOS, Japan, who will assess and provide specific needs to Japanese people affected by the earthquake and tsunami. JASTECA said valuable donations can be made by 30 April to the special account number 1108377501 opened at Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc, Kollupitiya Branch in favour of JASTECA Trust – Japan Tsunami Fund and official receipts will be issued for all donations received.
