Japanese Deputy Minister pledges more assistance

Japanese Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure Facilities, Transport and Tourism Manabu Sakai stated that Japanese assistance would be extended to development tourism in Sri Lanka. Deputy Minister Sakai added that Sri Lanka and Japan have a long-outstanding relationship and Japan has already ventured to assist Sri Lankan Tourism, when he called on Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa recently at the Ministry of Economic Development. The Japanese Deputy Minister participated at this occasion on 19 August along with senior diplomatic representatives and had discussions on strengthening bilateral relationship and Japanese cooperation in the fields of tourism, digital communication and disaster management. Minister Basil Rajapaksa took this opportunity to state that Japan has already extended assistance to a host of development projects including tourism and conveyed his grateful thanks to the people of Japan. Japanese Ambassador Nobohito Hobo and a host of Japanese officials, Dr. Nihal Jayatilake, Secretary to the Ministry of Economic Development and a host of senior State officials were present on this occasion.
