Janashakthi Insurance PLC, a leading Insurance provider in Sri Lanka, announced its partnership with the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka for the ‘Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards’ to recognise civilians who voluntarily risk their lives while saving, or attempting to save others from peril.
The Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka believes that civilian bravery knows no ethnic, social, or religious barriers, and makes its selection from everyday Sri Lankan citizens. Conducted for the 22nd year, the ‘National Civilian Bravery Awards’ invites civilians from across Sri Lanka to apply for, or nominate another candidate, for acts of bravery committed between the 1st of January 2015 – 31st of December 2015. Janashakthi Insurance PLC stepped forward to partner this worthy national cause with the aim of amplifying its reach to a larger national audience, and thereby encourage more citizens of Sri Lanka to apply for the awards.
Applications for the ‘Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards’can now be collected from the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka and at all 110 Janashakthi branches island-wide. The Foundation will be accepting applications until 31st March 2016, after which the winners will be selected by a distinguished panel of judges, based on the supporting evidence submitted with the application, as well as face to face interviews.
“On a daily basis, civilians across Sri Lanka go by unnoticed for various acts of bravery they may have committed to save the life of another, putting their own lives at great risk. It is our objective, therefore, to provide a platform for these individuals to be recognised at a national level. We are pleased to have Janashakthi Insurance PLC on board with our Foundation as we believe that it will help us expand our reach to more ‘unsung heroes’ in Sri Lanka. We invite you all to participate in this worthy endeavour by nominating either yourself or any individual who is applicable,” said Founder / President of the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka Kasun Chandraratne.
“It gives us great pleasure to partner with the Foundation of Civilian Bravery Sri Lanka for the ‘Janashakthi – National Civilian Bravery Awards’, as we believe that this is the ideal forum to recognise those who do great acts of bravery for the welfare of others. As a deeply-rooted Sri Lankan Insurance provider, we have a responsibility towards safeguarding the lives of others, and it is truly a privilege to partner a worthy, national endeavour that resonates with our own values and vision,” said Managing Director of Janashakthi Insurance PLC Prakash Schaffter.
