Tens of thousands of people in Jaffna District flocked into the city streets and walked in a rally from the Clock Tower Junction to the Government Agent’s office on Wednesday demanding the enactment of the Divi Neguma Draft Bill in Parliament, so that they too would be benefited of what the people in the south would enjoy under this act.
The people who came in a procession handed over a memorandum to Minister of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda to be given to the President in this regard.
Copies of the memorandum were also made available to Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, Jaffna District MP Silvestri Allentin, the Government Agent, Jaffna.
