Iran has invited Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to attend the upcoming summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran.
Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abbas Araghchi, who is paying an official visit to Colombo, has delivered Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s invitation to the Sri Lankan President, to Deputy Minister of External Affairs Neomal Perera on Tuesday, the External Affairs Ministry said.
The 16th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Alighted Movement is scheduled to be held from 30-31 August in Tehran.
The Iranian Deputy Minister has paid a courtesy calls on Perera and had extensive bilateral discussions.
An Iranian business delegation also has accompanied Deputy Minister Araghchi on his visit and had interactions with relevant business leaders to enhance Iran-Sri Lanka business cooperation.
