The Mount Lavinia District court yesterday lifted an injunction issued on the functioning of the powerful state doctors’ union allowing the union to resume its activities.
The Mount Lavinia District Court dismissed the injunction issued on the newly appointed office bearers of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).
GMOA is currently undergoing an internal power crisis and one group has obtained an injunction against the Executive Committee of the union. The Executive Committee of the GMOA has been suspended under the judiciary ruling and the Central Committee became the apex body of the GMOA.
Lifting the enjoining order, the court ordered the plaintiffs to file responses on September 11.
