Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has extended the felicitations and good wishes of the Government and the people of India to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his assumption of office for a second term.
A statement released by the High Commission of India in Colombo said in a letter addressed to the President, the Indian Prime Minister has expressed confidence that President Rajapaksa’s second term in office would usher in a new era of peace, reconciliation, and development for the people of Sri Lanka.
The Prime Minister has also said that he looked forward to working with President Rajapaksa to further strengthen the multifaceted relations between India and Sri Lanka for the mutual good of the two countries. - ColomboPage
