Outgoing Inspector General of Police (IGP) N. K. Illangakoon is an exemplary character for the Police officers to emulate as he fulfilled his duties and responsibilities in protecting the dignity of his office, President Maithripala Sirisena said.
The President made these remarks when IGP Illangakoon called on him to formally inform his retirement at the President’s Official Residence yesterday.
During the meeting, the President expressed his appreciation of what he called the great service rendered by Illangakoon as IGP over the last five years and also wished him well for his future endeavours.
IGP Illangakoon who served as the 33rd Inspector General of police, is scheduled to retire on 11 April.
