Hotline to verify wholesale prices of veggies

The Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute has taken steps to facilitate farmers and the consumers to sell or purchase vegetables at current prices by introducing a hotline which would enable the public to obtain the wholesale prices of vegetables daily.

Director of the Institute, Kantha Jayasekara said that during the first phase of the programme action will be taken to provide prices of twenty three vegetables. He further added that wholesale prices of vegetables from seven trade centres including the centres at Pettah, Kandy, Meegoda and Dambulla could be obtained through the hotline.
