High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Chitranganee Wagiswara presented his credentials to the President of India Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapathi Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday 26 September 2016.
Meeting the President of India after presenting the credentials, Wagiswara conveyed the greetings of the President and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka to the President of India. She said that she was honoured to take up the post of High Commissioner and extended the services of her office to enhance the diplomatic ties between India and Sri Lanka, which date back many centuries.
Prior to her appointment as the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India, Wagiswara served as the Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka. After joining the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 1981, Wagiswara has served as High Commissioner to Singapore, Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO in Paris and High Commissioner to Canada.
Wagiswara is a graduate from Sri Janawardenapura University and completed her postgraduate studies at the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies in Colombo and the Graduate Institute of International Relations in Geneva.
