The Health Ministry has decided to announce a ‘Red Alert’ on a possible outbreak of dengue in 12 Districts due to the prevailing weather conditions, a statement said.
The Health Ministry reportedly issued a ‘red alert’ on dengue on 1 December. The dengue epidemic is at a breaking point with mosquitoes fast becoming acquainted to the environment, Entomology report stated.
Accordingly, the ministry had issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Ampara, Jaffna, Kandy, Kegalle and Badulla districts. (Colombo, Lankapuvath)
