Along with the government’s development programmes Hambantota has attained a great development after the tsunami. Work on the construction of the Administration Complex has been completed. The new complex will enable the masses to obtain their services under one roof as forty two State and Non-Government institutions in Hambantota will be relocated here for the convenience of the people. 42 Government offices are housed in this complex.
It will also comprise all necessary facilities for the public including supermarkets and restaurants. Hambantota priority projects director architect Ananda Samarasinha said, “The area will be a WiFi zone.” The administration complex concept design was done by Sri Lankan architects led by him.
This complex has been constructed in a 72 acre land area at a cost of Rs. 2,983 million. All engineering qualitative standards are adopted in setting up the building.
The administration complex comprises five main components which are the Municipal Council building, public library, depots, infrastructure agencies and 25 residential quarters for government officials. This is the first Administrative complex in Sri Lanka that provides all services under one roof. (www.news.lk)
