Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) says the government does not have any proper plan to address the power crisis.
JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that government initiated power generation projects have failed and the plants like Kerawalapitiya and Lakvijaya have not been able to generate the estimated amount of energy units.
He pointed out that these power projects were implemented by the government after receiving loans taken on high interest rates.
“These power plants have become a waste of public funds since they have been constructed without proper supervision and with poor quality equipment,” the JVP legislator said.
According to Dissanayake, the government that boasted of providing power to India is now unable to address the country’s power crisis.
