Sri Lanka yesterday condemned the suspected terror attack at a concert hall in Manchester that has killed 19 people and injured more than 50.

Taking to Twitter, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said Sri Lanka was saddened by the attack and condemns the “heinous” act.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Mahishini Colonne tweeted.

She said the Ministry was in touch with the Sri Lankan High Commission in London and so far there are no reports of Sri Lankan nationals affected by the blast.

The blast happened on Monday night following a pop concert by the US singer Ariana Grande. The singer was not hurt. In light of the attack the Conservatives, Labour, SNP and Liberal Democrats have all confirmed that Tuesday’s campaigning in the general election has been suspended, the BBC reported.
