The Sri Lankan government is to prepare and present a national policy for the private transport sector by the end of the year. Private Transport Ministry Secretary Victor Samarasinghe has said that the policy would be presented before the end of the year.
The national policy would cover the private buses, school vans, three wheelers and all vehicles involved in private transport and is currently being prepared by a committee, appointed by Private Transport Minister C.B. Ratnayake. Samarasinghe has observed that the new national policy would help address the issues faced by the country’s private transport sector while also helping the sector improve in future.
