German Parliamentarians conclude visit to Sri Lanka

Prominent Members of Parliament Dagmar Wöhrl and Dr. Peter Ramsauer visited Sri Lanka from 30 May-4 June to meet with Government officials, political leaders, civil society, religious and business leaders. They heard about the progress and challenges in ensuring good governance, democracy, and sustainable economic development, as well as a desire for reconciliation, justice and accountability.



During a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the MPs had reiterated Germany’s commitment to working with the Government of Sri Lanka to promote greater peace and prosperity for the Sri Lankan people.



Wöhrl and Dr. Ramsauer also reviewed the ongoing development cooperation projects carried out by GIZ in Kilinochchi, which included visits to the Sri Lankan-German Training Institute construction site, and the NAITA Phase I training centre.



Wöhrl is the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Commission of Economic Cooperation and Development and the Former Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology. Dr. Ramsauer is the Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Economic Affairs and Energy and the former Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Development.
