The main opposition United National Party (UNP) yesterday vowed to continue with its agitation campaign until the present administration is defeated.

The UNP held a protest march yesterday evening to the Welikada Prison calling for former Army Commander and Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Leader Sarath Fonseka’s release and to protest against the present administration.

Opposition and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said the UNP would not give up and continue with its agitation campaign against the government.

Wickremesinghe, Deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa joined the protest march from Viharamahadevi Park to the Welikada prison where the ex-Army chief is imprisoned.

The UNP’s protest yesterday followed a sathyagraha organised by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) backed People’s Movement for Democracy on Tuesday.
