The French naval ship ‘Jacques Cartier’ arrived at the port of Colombo on 22 May. The ship’s contingent participated in a special program organised by the Sri Lanka Navy to strengthen the friendly relations between two naval forces.
The crew of the ‘Jacques Cartier’ dedicated one day to a charitable activity – with the support of Sarvodaya, they assisted villagers to construct a pre-school in Balagala, in the Wattala division of the district of Colombo. This semi-urban village has over 80 families whose main livelihood is manual labour and fishing.
