Four suspects arrested for assault of Kandy school boy

Kandy Police yesterday arrested four suspects in connection with the assault of a school boy of a leading college in Kandy. The assault occurred near the main entrance of the school a few days back.

Police sources told Daily FT that the four suspects who were identified as past pupils of the same college will be produced before the Kandy Magistrate for further legal action.

According to Police, the arrested suspects are aged between 19 and 22, and were arrested following footage of the incident which went viral on social media.

Police said the incident occurred when a senior student was directed by a junior prefect to cut his hair.

Police say that they have not received an official complaint about the incident but launched an investigation based on social media footage.

The National Child Protection Authority was contacted by Daily FT for comment but failed to respond. (CG)
