The Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be organising a mobile consular service in the vicinity of the Nallur Temple in Jaffna from 28-31 August 2016 to coincide with the festival of the Nallur Temple.
The mobile service is being launched with the objective of creating awareness about the range of consular services being extended to the public by the Consular Affairs Division of the Foreign Ministry.
Through the mobile service the public will be able to obtain information with regard to the procedures to be followed for a number of consular services such as the attestation of documents, the repatriation of stranded Sri Lankans, information on birth, marriage and death registration of Sri Lankan expatriates at Sri Lankan missions overseas, the details of salary dues, compensation, legal and insurance dues of Sri Lankan migrants and the procedures to dispatch human remains of nationals who have passed away overseas.
Officials from the Department of Immigration and Emigration will also be represented at the mobile service to provide required information of their services, including information on dual citizenship and the registration of citizenship. Officials of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau will also take part in the mobile service.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera will be opening the mobile service on Sunday 28 August at 10.00 a.m.
