Foreign Minister leaves for UK, US and China

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mangala Samaraweera left the country on Sunday morning on an official visit to the United Kingdom, where he is scheduled to meet the top officials of the UK Government. Following the UK visit, the Minister is scheduled to arrive in the United States later this week. Minister Samaraweera is scheduled to discuss Sri Lanka-US relations at a special briefing and reception at the National Press Club in Washington on Thursday, 12 February, following his meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry earlier in the day. The Minister is also scheduled to speak at the Carnegie Endowment of International Peace in Washington on Wednesday at 3 to 5 p.m. Samaraweera is also scheduled to pay an official visit to China in the latter part of February on the invitation of the Chinese Government, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
