Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage yesterday further remanded the former monitoring MP of the United People’s freedom Alliance (UPFA) Sajin Vass Gunawardena until 4 August.
When his case was heard, the Magistrate rejected the bail application filed by the former MP, saying that there was no special circumstance to release him on bail.
Gunawardena, who was also a coordinating secretary of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, is charged with misusing state property. He has allegedly misused 23 vehicles attached to the Presidential Secretariat.
Gunawardena is facing several charges of alleged corruption and fraud levelled against him during the tenure of the former regime.
