Expatriate Bangladesh nationals in Sri Lanka celebrated the Eid-ul-Adha with due solemnity and festivity on Thursday (24 September). Most expatriates living in Colombo and its outskirts offered Eid prayers at the main congregation of the country arranged on the sea side ground of picturesque Galle Face area of Colombo. The day was a public holiday in Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh High Commissioner Tarik Ahsan hosted an Open House Dinner at Bangladesh House (Residence) in the evening of Eid day. Bangladeshi officials employed at different international organisations and business firms; Bangladeshi defence officials under training in different institutions of Sri Lanka; Bangladeshi students; and officers and staff of the High Commission participated with families in the event arranged on the lawn of the Bangladesh House that was decorated and illuminated especially for the occasion. The guests exchanged greetings with the High Commissioner and his wife. They chatted with one another and relished the food that was served in a Bangladeshi ambience.
