The Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) yesterday confirmed it would lend its single seat in the Jaffna District to the UNP-led National Government, expressing faith that the new regime would address the problems of the Tamil people.
EPDP Leader and former militant Douglas Devananda said yesterday that he had already informed President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that the party would join the National Government.
“We will back the National Government because they have promised to address Tamil issues,” Devananda said.
