The Power and Energy Ministry of Sri Lanka says the electricity consumption during the Vesak period this year has seen a reduction. Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka told a gathering in Katubedda that the electricity consumption this Vesak period has reduced in comparison to last year. He has observed that the electricity consumption during the last Vesak period was between 1,800MW and 2,200MW.
He has noted that the consumption level this year was between 1,750MW and 2,100MW.
The Minister has also noted that the losses at the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) were mainly due to the unpaid dues from state sector organisations.
According to Ranawaka, the CEB purchased fuel at normal rates from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
