In a statement the Economic Development Ministry said a propaganda campaign has been launched to tarnish the image of graduate trainees, Economic Development Officers and Officers employed under the Economic Development Ministry, Samurdhi Managers and Samurdhi Officers employed by the Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority affiliated to the Ministry, alleging that they are engaged in political campaigning thus violating election laws.
“The Ministry of Economic Development informs that all the above officers when working at field level are doing so under the proper supervision of monitoring officers and are performing their duties accordingly. Ministry also wishes to state that except for performing duties assigned to them at the relevant divisions to which they have been posted they are not engaged in any form of political activity,” said the statement issued by the Secretary, Ministry of Economic Development.
