The Dudley Senanayake Memorial Foundation and The Friedrich Naumann Stiftung fur die Freiheit yesterday announced the 14th Dudley Senanayake Memorial Oration will be on Friday, 14 October,2011, at 5.30 pm at the auditorium of The Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies at the BMICH, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. It will be delivered this year by a most eminent personality of international repute, Dato Param Cumaraswamy. The speaker is a Barrister at Law, Advocate and Solicitor in Kuala Lampur.
A commemorative stamp will also be issued on this prestigious occasion to mark the 100th birthday of the late Dudley Senanayake which was on the 19th of June this year.
The programme will begin with the registration of invitees, followed by the arrival of the orator with the Prime Minister D.M Jayaratne who has kindly agreed to grace the occasion.
The Chairman, Dudley Senanayake Foundation, Bradman Weerakoon, will make the welcome address followed by the inauguration of the stamp by the Prime Minister who will address the audience. Sagarica Delgoda, will speak on behalf of The Friedrich Naumann Stiftung fur die Freiheit, the partner and sponsor of the event.
D.M. Swaminathan PC, MP, Director of The Dudley Senanayake Foundation will introduce the distinguished Speaker which will be followed by the oration. The Vote of thanks will be by Ruwan Wijewardene MP, grandnephew of the late Dudley Senanayake and Director of The Dudley Senanayake Foundation.
