Dr. T.B. Jayah 124th birth anniversary commemoration on Sunday

The 124th birth anniversary of educationist, statesman, diplomat and national hero, Al Haj Dr. T. B. Jayah, fell on 1 January.
The Conference of Sri Lankan Malays (COSLAM) has made elaborate arrangements to mark this event with a public meeting to be held on Sunday, 12 January 2014 at the New Town Hall, Nelum Pokuna Mawatha, Colombo 7, commencing at 9:30 a.m.
The Chief Guest at this function will be Malaysian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Azmi Zainuddin and Al Haj Imthiaz Bakeer Markar, former Minister of Mass Communication, will deliver the Dr. T.B. Jayah Oration.
This function will be held in conjunction with Hari Bahasa Melayu Hijri 1435 [Malay Language Day], a day dedicated to the preservation and development of the Malay language in Sri Lanka. On this day, the prize winners of the competitions held in connection with Malay Language Day will receive their prizes whilst the winners of the Oratorical Competition will deliver their prize-winning speeches.
This year, arrangements have been made to felicitate four Malays who have achieved outstanding feats in their respective fields: DIG M.R. Latiff, Major General M.Z.R. Sallay, DIG T. B. Samsudeen and Kalabhooshana T. Ruffin Saldin.
